Why did Jesus instruct his followers to react passively when attacked?
To react passively is showing the strength of our faith in God. He teaches us to love one another. In obeying His Word, we are entrusting our souls into His care and He will take care of us. We are a reflection of His Love and are instructed to follow the example of Jesus.

Why did Jesus instruct his followers to react passively when attacked?
Christ Jesus knows that passive response to violence and barbarism is the only way to solve the vices.

Why did Jesus instruct his followers to react passively when attacked?
Because the Law of Love calls us to forgiveness and if we demand an eye for an eye, that means that we want to return the evil done to us with an equal one ''but there might be an escalation to even greater evil''. You don`t let the other one drag you into sin. Hopefully your - i`d call it firmness rather than passivity - will shake him her to awareness. The Q here is how it fits with the defense of righteous defense. Can anyone explain? thanks :'' Is it defending the weaker ones taking responsibility for them vs being unforgiving toward the evil committed toward the `I`?

An Eye for an Eye

"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you, don't resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also. Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and don't turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
